I've raised a large family of 8 children and now own and operate an incredibly large and successful music studio. I can help you do the same.
Philosophy
Music unlocks emotions and stimulates the brain, it literally gets me out of bed early every morning and helps me to be my personal best. Furthermore, it teaches the power of expression, allows personal growth, and builds self-esteem. My philosophy is to coach balanced, complete musicians in an uplifting and fun environment wherein students are fulfilled with a love of music, learn the language of music and are inspired with a desire to play music.
I teach beginning to advanced students of all ages and qualified transfer students.
I have a knack with boys. Some of my students have continued their piano study in college. I have had students accepted into BYU’s prestigious piano performance program, as well as Utah State and University of Utah.
My experiences as the mother of eight and thirty five plus years teaching allows me to teach each student as an individual. Lessons are built around students’ talents and interests. Students take part in the selection of their music and practice expectations are clear. I appreciate and can adapt to all learning styles.
My preferred age to begin students in group lessons is four to six. “I believe the keys to success in teaching young children are engaging them in play, using an age-appropriate curriculum and tapping into all learning modalities.” A child who learns by discovery gains understanding, and acquires independence which builds self esteem. As children engage in play, their knowledge of concepts is easily evaluated.
I am kind and choose to teach with positivity and enthusiasm. Theory is integrated into lessons and emphasized during summer piano camps. Students participate annually in UFMC Piano Solo Festival, performance evaluations and several recitals each year, including a performance at the Festival of Trees.
I appreciate an engaging relationship with my students, and I am motivated by their progress and success. I love children and enjoy “play time” during group lessons. My students inspire and uplift me.
